The Course

This is the standard course for people in Scotland who want to train in community mediation or get a general grounding in mediation skills. Over 1000 people have so far successfully completed this course and have gone on to mediate in a wide range of situations in Scotland and further afield.

The course is recognised as approved training for the Scottish Mediation Register. It is credit rated against the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework.

Participants learn about the mediation process from first contact, to meetings and beyond, using a mix of structured exercises, reflective discussion and skills practice underpinned by theory. The course is continuously assessed and successful participants are awarded the SCMC Mediation Skills Certificate in addition to national SCQF credits.

Duration
The September 2023 course will follow a hybrid delivery model, with some modules run online and some in-person.  It consists of ten modules, the first eight modules lasting approximately two and a half hours and these will be held online (Zoom). The final two modules each last approximately five hours include an assesment and will be held in-person in Glasgow. It is highly interactive, delivered by two of our experienced tutors, and includes a home study knowledge module, and some brief written work.

Cost
Total cost is £600 per person. We are also able to deliver this course to organisations for groups of between six and twelve people.
