Mediation Skills

The Course

This is the standard course for people in Scotland who want to train in community mediation or get a general grounding in mediation skills. Over 1000 people have so far successfully completed this course and have gone on to mediate in a wide range of situations in Scotland and further afield.

The course is recognised as Accredited training by Scottish Mediation and meets the requirements for practising mediators as demonstrated by their Mediation Register. 

Participants learn about the mediation process from first contact to meetings and beyond, using a mix of structured exercises, reflective discussion and skills practice underpinned by theory. The course is continuously assessed and successful participants are awarded the SCMC Mediation Skills Certificate.

Duration

The course currently runs online, consisting of nine modules, the first seven modules lasting approximately two and a half hours, together with classroom assessment. This assessment is held online. It is highly interactive, delivered by two of our experienced tutors, and includes a home study knowledge module, and some brief written work.

Cost

Total cost is £600 per person. We are also able to deliver this course to organisations in their workplace or elsewhere for groups of between six and twelve people.
